Description
Discover the Brighton Toy and Model Museum, tucked beneath Brighton Railway Station in a set of atmospheric Victorian cellars. Just about an hour from London on Britain’s South Coast, this compact museum is densely filled with displays that bring the Golden Age of British and European toymaking to life.
Wander through four cellar spaces spanning around 4,000 square feet and explore a collection of more than 12,000 items, drawn from a core collection and visiting guest collections. From model trains and tinplate toys to beautifully designed playthings, the exhibits create an immersive visual journey—seen through the eyes of the artists and designers who shaped toy history.
During your visit, you’ll also learn how the museum goes beyond display. Run largely by dedicated volunteers and registered as a charity since 1991, it supports important restoration, research, and digitisation work. The museum also maintains a substantial online encyclopaedia and image library used by individuals and organisations worldwide.
Enter at your chosen time during opening hours, browse at your own pace, and leave with a deeper appreciation for the craft, design, and nostalgia of toys across generations—right in the heart of Brighton.
