The Royal Pavilion is a former Royal Palace situated in the city centre of Brighton, surrounded by the magnificent Royal Pavilion Gardens. It was initially built as a seaside pleasure for King George IV who used to come to Brighton to take advantage of the healing properties of the sea.
When George visited Brighton, the town started to become a popular holiday resort that attracted the rich and famous. In 1787, the Prince of Wales commissioned architect Henry Holland to renovate his lodging house into a modern villa which was known as the Marine Pavilion. Thanks to George’s taste for visual arts and Chinese decoration, the villa was lavishly decorated. In 1815, the Prince of Wales hired to change the villa into the beautiful oriental palace as it’s today. The Royal Pavilion is open daily for visitors, and it can be hired for corporate entertaining, weddings and private events.
