The Brunswick
Brighton
At a glance
The Brunswick is a community pub, independent arts venue and live music space at 1 Holland Road in Hove. Its programme centres on grassroots music and independent artists, with events taking place across two dedicated live and function spaces. Both spaces are professionally equipped for performances, with sound and lighting suited to concerts and other events.
The venue combines a pub and bar setting with a cosy restaurant area, creating a flexible place for food, drinks and entertainment. The programme changes regularly, with live music and other events forming a central part of the venue’s character. The spaces are also available for private hire, including wedding receptions, birthday celebrations and work events.
Food comes through a Kitchen in Residence programme, which gives an independent kitchen a three-month run before a new operator takes over. Menus therefore change completely between residencies, bringing different cooking styles and ideas to the restaurant. The approach reflects the venue’s wider support for independent food, music and creative projects, while giving diners a reason to return to try a new menu.
Drinks include rotating craft beer lines, with the selection changing as different kegs are introduced. The bar and restaurant sit alongside a large beer garden, offering an outdoor setting for drinks and meals when conditions allow. Upstairs, the venue also houses two escape room experiences, adding another activity to the pub and event offering.
The Brunswick suits a range of occasions, from a casual meal or drink to a night built around live music, an escape room booking or a private celebration. It also has the scale and facilities for group events, while the changing kitchen programme gives the food side an independent and seasonal focus. Table bookings are encouraged, particularly when events or busy service periods are scheduled. The venue opens seven days a week and stays open later on Friday and Saturday.
