ORA Wellness Pods
Brighton
At a glance
ORA Wellness Pods is a modular garden wellness system in Hove, within Brighton and Hove, bringing training, heat and cold-water recovery into one purpose-built space. Rather than separating a gym, sauna and plunge into different products, the design combines all three under one roof, intended for regular use close to home.
The training area is arranged for functional strength, conditioning and mobility work. Its specification includes rubber flooring, a Swedish ladder wall with an integrated pull-up bar, a configurable pegboard, resistance-band anchor points and storage shelving. The higher configuration provides a full-height ceiling of 3 metres, while the system is offered in Solo and Studio layouts with different internal floor areas.
The sauna follows a traditional Finnish format, with alder lining, alder benches and a glass door with an alder frame. A HUUM heater provides dry heat across a 50 to 110°C operating range, with phone-based controls through a Wi-Fi system. Considered lighting, ventilation covers and waterproof speakers add to the practical, pared-back Scandinavian character.
Outside, the cold plunge is set on a deck and provides shoulder-depth immersion in a unit measuring 1 metre wide by 90 centimetres deep. App control allows temperature scheduling, while the system cools the water to 3°C without the need for ice. Ozone sanitisation, filtration, guided breathing and acclimatisation programmes support a structured approach to cold-water use. Wearable integrations include Whoop, Oura and Garmin.
ORA uses Scandinavian design principles alongside CNC-routed cladding and selected materials intended for longevity. The pods are installed on ground screws rather than concrete foundations, and the two configurations are designed within permitted development guidelines. A consultation and site visit cover training preferences, siting, access and services before the design is confirmed. Manufacture takes place in a Sussex workshop, followed by delivery, positioning and connection of electrical and plumbing services.
The concept suits garden owners looking for a private, integrated approach to exercise and contrast therapy, without a membership or regular journey to a separate gym or spa. Its setting is residential and self-contained, with the emphasis on repeatable training, sauna and cold-plunge routines rather than food, hospitality or conventional leisure facilities.
